Remember, im making a critic about how the system of the value changing works right now, its just my opinion about it, many people will agree and disagree. For me, the values should receive more attention than they do right now, and what do i mean by that? The changes on value are made based on 99% of the value requests active in the value requesting channel, and i don’t think thats how it is supposed to be. Many of the trades there are manipulated, are lucky trades or overpay in purpouse just to get rid of a dupe or to raise an item of their desire (the channel also lacks ‘‘drop (itemname)’’ requests because people dont want to lose value). Using the value requests IS indeed a good way of setting the value of an item, but for me it shouldn’t only be that, the trading chat is also a very good way to determine what an item is currently getting, even if the item is not being very circulated. For example the Fae’s lament item, in trading chat people cant trade it even for deadly dark scythe because it lacks value, and needs add. Now fae only hasn’t dropped yet due to people not value requesting it, and if fae appears on a value request then the request was made to raise the opposing item. In conclusion, i think values shouldnt only rely on requests, the value changers could also take some time to read the chat and see the trades, or even make a ‘‘w/f/l’’ pool to see what the item is getting or near that, or maybe even hire someone to do that. This is just my opinion tho you can disagree as much as you want (just pls dont dm ;w;)
Thank you for your well thought out and respectful opinion. I just want to remind everyone that the value proofs are not a “hard” requirement, meaning a value can be changed without proofs, BUT it still needs to have legitimate reasoning.

Something like this then ask them to value request, otherwise how are we supposed to show it, what, we just do updates with no proof just randomly with no reason, that’s what people think when we don’t have proofs present or a reasonable explanation backed up with proofs, just maybe we lack proofs sufficient for an album, but we still have proofs
I haven’t been a value changer for that long, but I do not think that manipulation happens as much as you seem to think it does. We looked through all of our trades carefully before taking them into consideration in value updates. I feel that most values are accurate and we try our best to make changes that are fair. And we would never make a value change without having ad justified Reason.

,permafrost,corrupt alfred,frostbreath,corrupt maya rose, deadly dark scythe, poltergeist set, all the craftings, all the stock knives, medalist, crimson, fey, and the majority of all the other items are valued with either more of what they get or with less of what they get, most are not even near, a big revamp on all the values would be awesome

Again, if the items are in YOUR inventory, it is YOUR decision what to trade them for. This site and sites like these were created by like-minded people attempting to give back to the STK community and are free to use.
You don’t get to shift the accountability of your decisions to a group of people you’ve never met, who are providing you a free service.

Don’t like to argue about stuff like this, there are a lot of items that get there value, I think that a lot of people seem to think values are messed up because of the spec vs limited situation. Certain items get big overpays in limiteds, but get smaller offers in specs, this not the value changers fault. We try our best to make a value that meets in the middle. also demand trading is very different from value tradeing. If we focused mainly on demand then I’m sure that values would be different, but we take everything into consideration when changing values.

maybe making a system to estimulate a quantity an item gets around? for example instead of a specific value, using the minimal up to the max an item can get? its very viable anyways and items are getting constantly changed, like fey from simply one day to another getting crim solo (it was getting crim and adds)
Ya, I get were your coming from. It’s just simpler to use a solid value in tradeing because I think something like that would make tradeing much more complicated
I’m not entirely sure what you mean by hire someone to search out values - that is in essence what’s been done using VC expertise as a way to gauge values
All VC are experienced players and traders and able to use all the tools you’ve mentioned as a way to understand values and assess them accordingly
Trade chat/server/ads and ultimately completed trades (proofs) can be used as additional information when making value changes
All of those tools are also available to you when trading
As mentioned above it’s ultimately your responsibility to ensure your trades meet your own standard and that you are happy with them - if you are ONLY using posted values to trade then you’re doing something wrong
You’re welcome to open a discussion about a specific item to discuss it’s value - it gives the whole community a chance to discuss and maybe you’ll learn or be able to provide your input
There is also a thread posted with trading tips which is a valuable tool on how to increase inventory over time
